Jason graduated Sardis Secondary School class of ’99, and studied at the University of the Fraser Valley. He is now the sole owner and operator of a local technology firm, and has been involved in the Chilliwack business community for several years. In 2007, he was voted on to the board of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, eventually taking over as one of the youngest Presidents in the Chamber’s 108 year-old history.
While perhaps best known for his work with the Chamber, Lum has a diverse history of volunteerism in the community. He is a board member of the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation, Downtown BIA, Chilliwack Museum, Chairman of the Lower Mainland Economic Sustainability Panel (a group of Chambers of Commerce who actively spoke out against Metro Vancouver’s garbage incineration proposal) the Stó:lō Development Corporation, as well as Vice Chairman of the Fraser Valley Healthcare Foundation. Along with his work with the business community, Jason has also volunteered as a Youth Mentor with the Phoenix Program at Chilliwack Community Services and is a member of the Mount Cheam Rotary Club.
Jason and his wife Sheila share their home in Yarrow with one dog, two cats, and three goldfish. When not working or volunteering in the community Jason can usually be found in his backyard garden, playing music in his garage, or hanging out with his large extended family.
